It was at lunchtime that I started to struggle.

My head had started to hurt and I began to feel a little spaced out.

The fact my colleagues around me were tucking into over-stuffed baguettes from the local deli didn’t help, nor did their comments likening my juices to various inedible liquids.

I awoke hoping to feel re-energised, but still felt sleepy and tearful so instantly began to worry about the day ahead.

The morning went by without any hunger pangs or thoughts of food. In fact, I almost forgot to have my second juice – a mixture of carrot, apples, lemon and ginger – at 11am.

A bath and bed seemed to be the only option to keep me from biting someone’s head off (literally), but unlike last night when I tossed and turned for an hour or so before falling asleep, tonight my eyes felt heavy as soon as my head hit the pillow.

When I woke up on the third day it was almost as if I was a different person.

Although I was still craving food, I didn’t actually feel hungry and was in the best mood I had been in for ages.
