When Alcohol Can Be Termed As Too Much

Among the many rising problems in the society is alcoholism. More and more people are getting into this habit without realising its harmful effects. Alcoholism is a state when you consume alcohol to such an extent that it becomes difficult, rather impossible to perform your day to day tasks. Alcoholism has equally bad consequences in the short term and the long term.

There is a famous saying that “excess of everything is bad”. Excessive alcohol usage can cause alcohol poisoning. This condition can be extremely dangerous, or even deadly. Alcohol poisoning occurs when too much alcohol is consumed, such as drinking more than five alcoholic beverages in a short amount of time. The size, age and weight of the person can elaborate how much alcohol consumption is sufficient before poisoning occurs.

Alcoholism can cause many problems to the human mind and body. The worst thing among many is seizures that can occur anytime, leaving the person unable to take care of himself if he is alone. The reason for the seizures is generally the damage to some part of the brain, which again is caused by alcoholism. The most commonly witnessed problems that occur often are confusion, passing out, vomiting, irregular breathing and hypothermia. Alcoholism damages many vital parts of the human body such as the liver.

As already stated, alcoholism causes damage to the brain, which eventually causes damage to the parts of the body that are controlled by that damaged part of the brain. As the brain stops functioning normally, alcohol does not go through the digestive process and enters directly in the bloodstream, thus, causing the person to drink more without realisation.

As already said, the amount of alcohol that can be termed dangerous is different for every person, depending upon their age and weight. However, generally, if you consume five drinks of alcohol in an hour, it can become poisonous for you. If you feel that your lips are becoming blue or your skin is becoming clammy, and if you observe your breath per minute, and you feel that it is less than twelve breaths per minute then you should immediately seek help.

Too much alcohol can cause problems with your liver and make you do things that you will likely regret. There are some common reasons why someone might drink too much alcohol. A huge number of people consume too much alcohol because of the stressing behaviour of their friends to continue drinking.

An alcoholic will consume too much alcohol because he has become a huge addict of alcohol and his body is dependent on it. When a person is depressed, he may drink too much alcohol to deal with his emotional problems. Some people drink excessively to increase the amount of confidence. Research by the Human Genome Project has proven that the capacity to drink too much alcohol may be genetic.

For an alcoholic, it becomes very difficult to get rid of the habit as all the systems of his body become used to it. However, if the person makes up his mind that tries to quit it then there is nothing that can stop him from doing so. There are many medical treatments available for curing alcoholism. There are many rehabilitation centres, which help alcoholics in getting rid of their addiction. With his will power and with the help from the medical treatments, a person can get rid of his habit of drinking.

We can conclude that alcoholism harms our body and mind in numerous destructive ways, but people are taking it lightly, and have made it a part of their culture. The only solution to resolve the problem is to spread awareness among masses and try to help those who are already trapped in the web of this addiction and cannot escape by themselves.
